Areas of Practice

Life Insurance Reporting

Jason has several years working in the BAU reporting cycle. He has been involved in results production and review, using his knowledge of actuarial systems to troubleshoot errors, and his knowledge of insurance products to give a comprehensive review to stakeholders. He has supported SII BAU reporting, based on Internal Model, and supported business readiness efforts in advance of IFRS17.

Actuarial Systems and Infrastructure

Jason has owned actuarial models in Prophet, MG Alfa and AXIS. As a consequence, he is able to manage models in these systems well, including troubleshooting inconsistencies. He possesses a strong understanding of data infrastructures and automation frameworks that are a key focus given increasing regulatory pressures for granular reporting.

Matching Adjustment

Jason has spent a couple of years looking at Immediate Annuities and Bulk Purchase Annuities as part of the Matching Adjustment Portfolio of a FTSE 100 insurer. He was responsible for conducting the post-model review of the AOC/P&L. He was also responsible for reviewing the IFRS4 to SII Bridge, SCR stresses, and SF Stresses for the fund.

Coding

Jason has had exposure to C Sharp, HTML, VBA and other programming languages. He has become proficient at understanding underlying logic needed to complete a particular task and always follows coding best practice. He has leveraged code for a number of tasks including maintaining demo projects in an API, creating a bulk upload tool, reconciling results from two systems, and reformatting results from one software, for immediate use in another.

Stakeholder Management

Deadlines are often tight and can end up putting a lot of pressure on teams to deliver a particular outcome. Jason throughout his career has focussed on the quality of the delivery, with consideration of hard deadlines. Jason is in constant communication with key stakeholders to understand their needs, their concerns and their expectations. It is important to communicate any disruptions to the process early, to avoid any delay in escalating the issue.

Project Management

Through the use of enterprise tracking tools such as Jira, Trello and Rally, Jason has managed agile, project, and BAU deliveries. He is able to discern between uses of features, feature sets, and defects. He uses a big picture approach to understand prioritisation, whilst clearly communicating any concerns to stakeholders.

People Management

Jason has experience mentoring a team of five, where he conducted such processes as probation review and annual review. He would collect feedback and coach his team to ensure that they were enjoying the work that they did, and that any constructive feedback was taken on board. He would suggest ways of upskilling his team members and encourage them to take on new opportunities.
